These days Benedict Cumberbatch is a huge star who can be seen in both tentpole blockbusters and arthouse hits, but it was his role as a contemporary take on Arthur Conan Doyle's famous detective in Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss's witty BBC series "Sherlock" that served as his breakout.
