Showtime has renewed both political thriller "Homeland" and period drama about the science of sexuality "Masters of Sex" for a 2014 return.

The Emmy and Golden Globe-winning "Homeland" has continued to be Showtime's number one rated series in its current third season, while new drama "Masters of Sex" has shown strong ratings in its first season and received critical acclaim. Both series are set to return with 12 hourlong episodes.

"'Homeland' continues to prove its strength for Showtime, and is one of television's most exciting, provocative and widely-discussed shows. It has grown its audience significantly in each of its three seasons," said Showtime president David Nevins in the announcement, adding that "The critical and audience reaction to 'Masters of Sex' since its great launch has been incredibly gratifying."

What's happened to my favorite network? :( Masters of Sex is a granny show and the twists on Homeland are so over-played that its become ridiculous.

If you’d like to know more about Masters and Johnson -- or my book “Masters of Sex” which is the basis for the Showtime television series -- please contact ThomasMaierBooks [dot] com. On this website, there is a lot of material about the making of this new show from my biography. You can also obtain the book “Masters of Sex” at Amazon or the Showtime website.
