It's been a little over a month since Sundance Channel announced that it had struck a co-producing deal for the BBC miniseries "The Honourable Woman," with Maggie Gyllenhaal taking on the lead role of Nessa Stein, the daughter of a Zionist arms procurer who furthers her father's work to reconcile Israel and Palestine, her accomplishments going on to secure her a spot in the House of Lords.

With an 18-week shooting schedule set to begin this week, the cable network has just announced an impressive supporting cast for the eight-part program, which comes off of the Sundance Channel's successful and acclaimed co-production "Top of the Lake."

Among those that will be joining Gyllenhaal in the fast-paced drama is Oscar-nominee Stephen Rea ("The Crying Game"), who will be playing Hugh Hayden-Doyle, a soon-to-be retired M16 agent who begins investigating Nessa Stein's family past. Oscar-nominee Janet McTeer ("The White Queen) will play Julia Walsh, the head of M16 with a firm hold on Hayden. "Nurse Jackie" star Eve Best will play Monica Chatwin, an M16 agent from the Washington Bureau who harbors a competitive rivalry with her British counterparts.

As for the Stein family, Andrew Buchan ("Nowhere Boy") will portray Nessa's brother Ephra, who becomes overshadowed by his sister's achievements, with Katherine Parkinson ("Sherlock") playing Ephra's pregnant wife Rachel. "Game of Thrones" star Tobias Menzies is set to play Nessa's personal bodyguard Nathaniel Bloom, with Genevieve O'Reilly ("Episodes") taking on the role of Nessa's personal assistant Frances.

Lubna Azbal ("Incendies") plays Atika Halibi, nanny to Ephra and Rachel Stein’s two young daughters and close friend to Nessa, while Igal Naor ("Green Zone") is Shlomo Zahary, a close long-time ally of the Stein family. Martin Hutson, Nicholas Woodeson, Raad Rawi, Richard Katz, Philip Arditti, John Mackay, Rupert Frazer, Uriel Emil, Paul Herzberg, George Georgiou, Julia Montgomery-Brown, Marin McDougall, Aiden Stephenson, Tom Bateman, Amira Ghazalla, Hugh Ross and Stephen Boxer are also set to appear.

"The Honourable Woman" is set to premiere on the Sundance Channel in the US and BBC Two in the UK in 2014.
