It looks like "The Borgias" will have more time to grab the public's eye: Showtime announced today that they're renewing the series for a third 10-episode season that will begin shooting this summer in Budapest and will air in 2013.

Currently airing on a Sunday night overcrowded with "Mad Men," "Game of Thrones," "Girls," now "Sherlock" and more, "The Borgias" sometimes feels like the most pedigreed show no one's talking about -- created by Neil Jordan ("The Crying Game," "The End of the Affair"), the series stars Jeremy Irons as Pope Alexander VI, reigning over the devious, power-hungry Borgia family.

Now it looks like "The Borgias" will have more time to grab the public's eye: Showtime announced today that they're renewing the series for a third 10-episode season that will begin shooting this summer in Budapest and will air in 2013.

The most recent episode of "The Borgias" snagged an audience of 579,000 but, like HBO, Showtime re-airs the episodes throughout the week and makes them available on demand, making the cumulative viewship significantly higher.
