Steven Soderbergh's retirement from filmmaking hasn't stopped him from heading to the small screen to executive produce and direct "The Knick," a period drama starring Clive Owen as a doctor working at the Knickerbocker Hospital in New York in the early 1900s.

Steven Soderbergh's retirement from filmmaking hasn't stopped him from heading to the small screen to executive produce and direct "The Knick," a period drama starring Clive Owen as a doctor working at the Knickerbocker Hospital in New York in the early 1900s. The 10-episode series will premiere on Cinemax this summer, and the first teaser, below, presents a few bloody snapshots of early medicine more reminiscent of "Dexter" than "ER."
