Executive producers Will Ferrell and Adam McKay will skewer sweeping, overblown miniseries like "The Thorn Birds" in "The Spoils of Babylon," a six-part saga based on the novel by the legendary (and fictional) author Eric Jonrosh. The series, which is produced by Funny or Die, will premiere on IFC on Thursday, January 9 at 10:00 pm, and has a star-filled cast that includes Jessica Alba, Jellybean Howie, Val Kilmer, Tobey Maguire, Haley Joel Osment, Tim Robbins, Michael Sheen, Steve Tom and Kristen Wiig. Ferrell, as Jonrosh, will introduce each episode of the sprawling take of the Morehouse family, one that involves pseudo-incestuous love, the oil fields of Texas, the army and beyond. The series is created and written by Matt Piedmont and Andrew Steele, the pair behind "Casa de mi Padre," and like that movie looks to be very straight-faced -- check out the trailer below.
