"The world needs bad men." And it needs more television projects with pedigrees like that of "True Detective," HBO's new limited series slated to premiere in January and sounding very cinematic. Starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as a pair of detectives searching for a Louisiana serial killer over 17 years, the series is written by Nic Pizzolatto and directed by Cary Fukunaga, of "Sin Nombre" and "Jane Eyre." The series is set to run for an eight-episode season that will tell its story in its entirety, though HBO has said it will consider doing additional seasons with new characters, "American Horror Story" anthology-style. The first full-length trailer released tonight, below, looks very promising.
