Robert Kirkman, the lauded graphic novelist behind "The Walking Dead" and the figure some say is responsible for the hit AMC drama now being on its third showrunner, has a new television project in the works.
Kirkman's working with Fox International Channels, Circle of Confusion and Skybound (Kirkman's imprint at Image Comics) to develop a show based on an upcoming comic book series by Kirkman set in the world of exorcism. FIC is an international partner on AMC's "The Walking Dead."
The yet-untitled series will follow a young man named Kyle Barnes who goes on a spiritual journey to find out why he's been plagued by possession ever since he was young -- though what he finds out could mean the end of life on Earth.
Kirkman, who'll serve as executive producer on the project alongside David Alpert, said in the announcement that "Sharon Tal Yguado and the entire team at FOX International Channels have been instrumental in making The Walking Dead the worldwide success that it has become. I couldn't resist the opportunity to continue working with this forward-thinking and extremely talented group."
Another of Kirkman's Skybound comics, "Thief of Thieves," is in development at AMC.
