"The Day of The Doctor" is drawing nearer, and for "Doctor Who" fans, next month's 50th anniversary special promises to erupt onto the screen with all the time-traveling action-packed thrills that have made the British sci-fi series iconic for half a century.

In anticipation of the epic event, BBC has released a new teaser trailer to get the "Doctor Who" momentum going. Not much is known about "The Day of the Doctor" special aside from the fact that it will have David Tennant reprising his role as the Tenth Doctor alongside departing Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith. If the video below is any indication, the show will aspire to ring in its 50th with a climactic bang that will take its universe-wide time-travel war to another dimension (literally, as it was filmed in and will be broadcast in some placed in 3D).

The special will feature the return of the shape-shifting, chameleonic Zygon aliens as well as the robotic dome-shaped Dalek species. "The Day of the Doctor" is directed by Steven Moffat and written by Nick Hurran, and in addition to Tennant and Smith will star current Companion Jenna Coleman, Billie Piper, John Hurt, Joanna Page and Jemma Redgrave. "The Day of The Doctor" will air around the world on November 23 -- on BBC America in the U.S. Check out the trailer below:
