Watch: The Creepy First Five Minutes of FX's 'American Horror Story: Asylum' (Video)

Like its haunted house-centric first round, the insane asylum-focused second season of Ryan Murphy's FX series "American Horror Story" starts off with a bang -- both figuratively and literally. The first five minutes of the season premiere, which airs Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 10 pm, find newlyweds (Adam Levine and Jenna Dewan) exploring the remains of Briarcliff Manor, a stop on their honeymoon tour of "the 12 most haunted places in America."

Once the largest tuberculosis ward on the East Coast, according to the pair, the asylum had as its most famous resident a serial killer named "Bloody Face." The cold open below suggests that while Briarcliff is no longer in use, that doesn't mean that no one's around. The video ends with a look at the creepy new opening credits. Zachary Quinto, Joseph Fiennes, Sarah Paulson, James Cromwell and Jessica Lange are among the "American Horror Story: Asylum" regulars.

Every time I see the previews for “American Horror Story” the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. This season looks scarier than the first season. I can not wait for the new season to start; I’ve even have some of my co-workers at DISH ready to watch this season. I have a Hopper, and I’ve set it to record this show. There is a ton of DVR recording space so I will have enough room to capture the entire season. Jessica Lange’s acting is the best I’ve ever seen, and I can’t wait to see her as the tormenting nun.
