Damon Lindelof. Few names can illicit such heated, varying responses right off the cuff, but the creator of "Lost" and co-writer of "Prometheus" is certainly one of them. Now the beloved or loathed lover of twists is returning to television with "The Leftovers," a new HBO drama about two percent of the population disappearing in an instant.
The teaser below calmly establishes the magnitude of that number before cutting to a baby disappearing from a carseat, shocking and terrifying the mother while putting us in an immediate state of unease. Followed up with quick cuts of various survivors coping with loss, including the show's lead Justin Theroux screaming in the deep end of a pool, "The Leftovers" looks as dark and intriguing as Lindelof's past work. Here's hoping it unites audiences instead of only, say, two percent.
