You may not have heard a lot about the upcoming Starz series "Outlander," and you may not know much more after watching its first trailer. Even after two viewings, it's difficult to discern much of the plot or basic conflict, but it seems to have something to do with time travel, romance, and a woman's past being her future.

The story notes from the press release aren't a whole lot clearer, though they do provide one big reason to pay attention: Producer Ronald D. Moore, who worked on the cult hit "Battlestar Galactica" and "Star Trek: The Next Generation," adapted the series of books by Diana Gabaldon to create "Outlander." The epic tale tells the story of Claire, a married nurse from 1945 who is taken back in time to 1743. She's forced to marry a Scottish warrior, but seems to get along fine with the "chivalrous" and "romantic" Jamie Fraser. "Claire's heart is torn between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives." The press notes also make a point to say the series is a blend of "romance, science fiction, history, and adventure."

Moore's presence -- along with the legions of fans behind Gabaldon's novels -- make "Outlander" one to watch, even if the trailer itself is virtually unwatchable. There's plenty of action in the 75-second spot, but its construction keeps the viewer from understanding the consequences if they're unfamiliar with the texts. There's no way of recognizing the woman's romantic struggles when we don't know she's in a committed relationship -- frankly, it looks like she's simply enjoying a healthy sex life.

Take a look for yourself and tell us what you think on Twitter, Facebook, or in the comments section. "Outlander" is scheduled to premiere this summer on Starz.
