READ MORE: What We Know About the Upcoming Season of 'The Office,' Which Will Be the Show's Last
In "The Mindy Project," Kaling plays Mindy Lahiri, a doctor struggling to find romance and to balance her work and personal life. Kaling is smart, winning and funny -- qualities that are always welcome -- and certainly to have a minority lead character and not have race be the primary focus of his or her show is still far too rare a thing.
"The Mindy Project" premieres on Fox on September 25, but courtesy of Hulu, you can watch the pilot episode below, now. Is Kaling the new voice of broadcast comedy? Weigh in in the comments.

Way to go Mindy!! You are too funny! and absolutely adorable in poking fun at yourself as a chubby 30 something still on the look out for that Mr. Right. Me, too!! LOL!! Too funny!! Wish you the best and thanks for putting it out there for the other chocolate sisters from other misters!! LOL!! You rock, continue to give them spunk and sarcasm with that oh so professional and cutesy calm voice. If ever in Schenectady (yea, i kno) drop by and see the college.

I like Mindy Kaling, and enjoyed her work and writing on the Office. I could see me watching this show because by default she's the only "black" woman with her own show, with full knowledge that she isn't an African American. What I don't like about the show is that she seems to be, once again, a professional competent woman who whines about not have a dude. Although in the last scene she was about to get laid. With that said, I wish her luck and will catch her on the Hulu or Fox.
