"The Leftovers" has been a mysterious show since it was announced: Anyone who read the book by Tom Perrotta knew about two percent of the world's population disappearing in an instant, and were well prepared for the haunting first images. But whether or not you were familiar with the text, it was clear something would need to be explained because Damon Lindelof, the co-creator of "Lost," is on board.

In the new trailer that debuted last night on HBO, the characters look completely lost in a world without an explanation for its largest loss on record. No, Jack and Sawyer don't pop up this time around. Instead, we get a glimpse of Liv Tyler (quite elusive in these early spots) and Justin Theroux, though the spot seems more interested in focusing on the religious arguments bound to ensue when both believers and non-believers search for answers.

Take a look for yourself. "The Leftovers" premieres June 29th.
