Blaxploitation spoof "Black Dynamite" is getting an animated TV adaptation. The 2009 film, which was directed by Scott Sanders and had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, stars Michael Jai White as the title character, a Vietnam vet and former CIA agent who dedicates himself to battling drug dealers after the death of his younger brother.
"Black Dynamite," the movie, meticulously recreated the look of an artifact from the era, shot on Super 16 Color Reversal Kodak stock with deliberate flubs like a boom mic appearing in the frame. The trailer below, which declares its hero to be "sticking it to the man as only he can," has a slicker look -- the series is from the same production team behind "The Boondocks." White voices his role from the film, with Byron Minns, Tommy Davidson and Kym Whitley also returning.
"Black Dynamite" premieres on Adult Swim Sunday, July 15th at 11:30pm.
