Carter's obviously a very influential figure, and he hasn't stepped entirely away from the scene -- he had "Unique," a police thriller with a female lead and supernatural elements, set up at Media Right Capital last year as a series to write and executive produce, but ultimately nothing came of the project. In 2008, it was reported that Carter was working on a secret film entitled "Fencewalker," though little's been heard about the "dark drama" since -- and of course there are always rumors of a third "X-Files" movie.
But Mulder and Scully devotees can now rejoice at the news that Carter seems to have a confirmed new project out on the market -- and it's a supernatural television series. Variety reports that Carter is working with Georgeville TV (the production company behind the Wachowski siblings' secretive TV project "Sense8") on "The After," a show that "revolves around a mysterious event that blends sci-fi and suspense elements with contemporary themes."

"The After" is being shopped around Mipcom and has no US network attached -- like "Sense8," "The After" is being offered up for a straight-to-series order rather than as a pilot.
According to Georgeville CEO Marc Rosen, "The After" finds that Carter "has woven his mythology magic within a very human, grounded story about the moment when we realize all of our worst fears about the world and its future."
Georgeville is also producing the remake of the British sci-fi series "Blake's 7," with Martin Campbell attached to direct -- the show landed at Syfy.
