On October 14, 1981, Robin Williams appeared on the Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson for the first time, promoting his then-upcoming movie "The World According to Garp." With his gifts for physical expression and quick wit, Williams was a natural on the late night circuit and made countless appearances from then on.
