The Dominoes Fall: Biz Fever Continues with Numerous Deal Announcements

Another slew of deals were reported and announced, as the 1998 Cannes
Film Festival goes into its final weekend. The following are highlights
of some of the more notable pacts:
Sony Pictures Classic's confirmed their acquisition of Erick Zonca's "La
Vie Revee des Anges" and Carlos Saura's "Tango," they also grabbed exec
Tom Bernard's discovery, the market film "SLC Punk!" from Beyond Filmsb.
Beyond Films also found a friend in Miramax which announced the
acquistion of "Forever Fever" a 70's retro pic, directed by first time
helmer Glen Goei. Variety reported a mid-six figures for the deal.
Stratosphere Entertainment bought up Joan Chen's directorial first "Xiu,
Xiu" which debuted in Berlin and "Hideous Kinky" which stars Kate
Winslet.
Warner Bros. grabbed the Latin-American rights to the Spanish-language
film, "The Girl of Your Dreams".
Finally, Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group has acquired Australian,
Latin American and South African rights to the Gregg Araki-helmed comedy
"Splendor" from Summit Entertainment.
