Among the new entries this week, "Good Will Hunting" from Miramax was far and a
way the strongest debut, earning $272,912 on only 7 screens for an enormous
per screen average of $38,987. Also from Miramax, "Office Killer" opened on 2
screens, earning $10,713. From Artistic License, "Other Voices, Other Rooms",
made $8,525 on 4 screens, for a $2,131 per screen average. Also opening was
"Twisted" from Leisure Time Features which earned $5,968 on one screen.
In weekend number 2, Goldwyns "Bent" was solid on 13 screens, earning $64,518
for a per screen average of 4,963 and a total of 247,215. Also in its second
weekend, Miramax "Welcome To Sarajevo" made $38,251 on 4 screens for a total of
$155,009. "A Self-Made Hero" from Strand earned $12,285 in its 13th weekend.
On 4 screens the film had a per screen average of $3,071 for a total of
$69,977.
