On the heels of last week's news that Malcolm Bricklin, the subject of the film, won a $2MM settlement against a Chinese auto manufacturer, "The Entrepreneur" hit #1 in the iTunes documentaries store.
Directed by Bricklin's son Jonathan and produced by Morgan Spurlock ("Super Size Me"), "The Entrepreneur" follows auto industry veteran Bricklin (best known for importing the low-cost Yugo to the U.S.) as he tries to bring cars made by Chery, the Chinese car company, to the U.S.
Last week, a federal jury awarded $2 million in damages to Bricklin's firm V Cars LLC after a former employee undercut a deal with Chery Automobile Co Ltd to bring luxury vehicles to the United States.
When he reviewed the film when it was released in 2009, Indiewire's chief film critic Eric Kohn referred to "The Entrepreneur" as "'Death of a Salesman'" of car movies." The doc initially premiered on SnagFilms, which owns Indiewire.
The iTunes store doesn't provide specifics about number of downloads, but it does list the top 10 movies by category.
Here are the current Top 10 Documentaries in iTunes:
6. 56 Up
9. Sound City
