Top 10 Indies in the iTunes Store This Week: 'Stuck in Love' and 'The Bling Ring' Top the List

"Stuck in Love"

Each Monday we present you with the most up-to-date list of Top 10 (Indie) Movies in iTunes (this list combines rentals and purchases).

The big addition to the list this week is "Escape From Tomorrow," the Sundance hit which was filmed guerrilla-style at Disney parks, and was released theatrically on Friday.

While the film took in a mediocre $66,112 from 30 theaters, averaging $2,204, Producers Distribution Agency head John Sloss has said he will make the VOD numbers available, a rarity. We'll let you know as soon as he does.

It's worth noting that "V/H/S" is an iTunes "Movie of the Week" and is available to rent for 99 cents, which could help to explain its popularity.

The top 10 indies in iTunes are listed below (number represents North American gross, where applicable):

1. Stuck in Love (Millenium Ent., $81, 071)

2. The Bling Ring (A24, $5,845,732)

3. The Kings of Summer (CBS Films, $1,315,500)

4. 1 (Spitfire Pictures, N/A)

5. Europa Report (Magnolia Pictures, $125,687)

6. The Place Beyond the Pines (Focus Features, $21,403,519)

7. Vikingdom (KRU Studios, N/A)

8. Concussion (Radius-TWC, $8,313)

9. Escape From Tomorrow (Producers Distribution Agency, $66,100)

10. V/H/S (Magnolia Pictures, $100,345)

I have followed this movie since filming started and the amazing thing I have seen is the great number of reviews that are now singing the praises of this fine movie. First reviews for 'Writers', the original name of this movie, were quite mixed but what do the professional reviewers know in comparison to those that really matter, us, the general population that watch films for the sheer enjoyment of the product?
This is a movie that has grown on people. The story line and the acting were very good and much of this success was brought about by the up and coming young director Josh Boone. As far as I am concerned he produced a great movie that will be enjoyed by viewers for years to come.
Mr. Boone is now directing 'The Fault In Our Stars' from the best selling novel of the same name written be John Green. I fully expect this movie to be a great success. Keep an eye out for this release next year.

I've seen 2: Vhs & The Bling Ring. I love The Bling Ring, it's a fantastic film and one of my favorite of 2013. Sofia Coppola is the best!
