Trailer of the Week: A 'Big Ass Spider!' Destroys Downtown Los Angeles

Before the Trailer, We Thought: A hit with genre enthusiasts at this year's SXSW where it world premiered, "Big Ass Spider!" supposedly delivers on its name, offering a tongue-in-cheek spectacle for those who like their creature features funny, not scary.

For more indie film trailers check out Indiewire's trailer page, sponsored by Sony Pictures Classics.

And Now? With the film arriving on VOD and opening in select theaters on October 18th, Epic Pictures has released the full trailer for Mike Mendez's comedy and all signs point to this being one fun (albeit very silly) spectacle.

"Big Ass Spider!" centers on a unlikely heroic duo of a blue-collar exterminator (Greg Grunberg) and Latino security guard (Lombardo Boyas) who are called upon to save the day when a giant spider escapes from a military lab and rampages the city of Los Angeles.

Watch the trailer below and let us know your thoughts in the comments section.

Nicely over the top. But the shadow of the cameracrew at the volleyball court was a downer.

Was the name "Spidernado" already taken?

Probably not the best idea to open a week after Machete Kills.

Also, a friend asked if it is playing in New York. Can someone let me know?

Thank you, Indiewire, for making my day! Finally, a movie I can get excited about! Nothing better than a trailer that can make you laugh! Is it coming to any theaters in Ohio?

Yep, that's a Big Ass Spider. Anybody know if they used AfterEffects or Motion 5? Just curious
