Before We Saw the Trailer, We Thought: Jill Soloway's debut feature "Afternoon Delight" premiered late at this year's Sundance Film Festival and was a surprise winner for the Dramatic Directing Award, garnering solid word of mouth for its off-kilter plot and strong ensemble, led by the underutilized-until-now Kathryn Hahn, in her first lead role.
And Now? Soloway, a well known producer for hit HBO shows like "Six Feet Under," and "United States of Tara," looks to have transitioned smoothly to the big screen with a writing-directing debut that seems as adventurous and provocative as the shows that made her name.
In the film, Hahn plays a bored L.A. housewife, who tries to "rescue" a stripper (Juno Temple in typical feisty form) by hiring her as a live-in nanny. Complications ensue when her husband (Josh Radnor) and close friends start to question her surprising decision.
Film Arcade will be releasing the film theatrically on August 30 with Cinedigm handling ancillary distribution a few months later. Go here to check out our exclusive first look at the film's poster, and watch the trailer below.
