Film Independent has announced that what is essentially the opposite of independent filmmaking, Michael Bay's "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," will have its U.S. premiere at the 2009 Los Angeles Film Festival. The film - which stars Shia LaBeouf and involves a war between the Autobots and the Decepticons - will screen Monday, June 22 at the 2009 at the fest, two days before it opens nationwide. Its the sequel to "Transformers," which also premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival.
"The Festival is delighted to welcome back Michael Bay and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen after our successful launch two years ago. It's a wonderful opportunity for Festival audiences to get a sneak peek at what will surely be one of this summer's biggest action films," said Festival Director Rebecca Yeldham in a statement.
Tickets to the premiere of can be obtained now by purchasing a Discovery, Industry, or Fast pass to this year's Festival.

Tribeca sold out when they prem'd MI:III several years back. While this is probably more reflective of the popcorn and bubblegum audience than the festival, still, Michael Bay??!! Cue the slow-mo, explosions, and music!
