Films from the 2004 Tribeca Film Festival will head to Italy this fall for five days of screenings in Milan. Seven films, as well as founders Robert DeNiro and Jane Rosenthal, are expected to make the trip for the first "Tribeca Film Festival at the Fondazione Prada." Prada is a sponsor of the annual Tribeca Film Festival in Lower Manhattan and will present the event for free in Milan.
Among the films set to screen in Italy are Liz Mermin's "Beauty Academy of Kabul," Ruth Leitman's "Lipstick & Dynamite, Piss & Vinegar: The First Ladies of Wrestling," Juliano Mer Khamis & Danniel Danniel's "Arna's Children," and Tricia Brock's "Killer Diller".
"As we continue our efforts to develop a new model for what an American film festival can be - characterized by an eclecticism and openness to other cultures that go hand in hand with the spirit of generosity that originally helped bring it to life - we are excited by the prospect of having our initial steps toward outreach take place in the rich cradle of cultural ferment that is Milan," commented Peter Scarlet, Executive Director of the festival, in a prepared statement."
