Producers Celine Rattray and Trudie Styler have joined forces to launch Maven Pictures, a New York-based film development, production and financing company. Both will serve as co-founders and partners, with the intention to produce three to five films per year for distribution across various platforms.
Styler, wife to Sting, is an award-winning producer and director. Among her credits: Executive producer on Guy Ritchie's first two films, produced Duncan Jones' breakout "Moon" and "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints" among others, and currently heads the Xingu Films label in the UK.
The reason behind Styler's new venture, according to Maven's release...
“I love the thrill of discovering an amazing script, a phenomenally talented new filmmaker or a project that screams out that it must be made,” said Styler. “Maven was the natural next step for me, and Celine brings to our partnership an impeccable reputation as a savvy businesswoman and producer who will move mountains if she has to for the sake of a film. We love the idea of a company that allows just the two of us to greenlight projects, and make the impossible happen together with our team.”
Rattray recently served as President of Mandalay Vision, Mandalay Entertainment's independent film financing division. As a producer she won a Golden Globe and received an Oscar nomination for her work on Lisa Choldenko's "The Kids Are All Right" and has several upcoming productions, including "The Whistleblower," "Salvation Boulevard" and "Another Happy Day."
Joining Tyler and Rattray at Maven: Hary Justice as Senior Vice President of Production and Development, Jenny Halper as a Development Executive and Nic Marshall as Director of Operations.
