"Up In The Air" Leads D.C. Critics Nods

The Washington, DC Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) followed the National Board of Review and gave Jason Reitman's "Up In The Air" considerable support in their annual nominations. "Air" has strong competition leading to the announcement of tomorrow's winners, though. The George Clooney starrer took 8 nominations, including picture, director, actor, and two for supporting actress, while Lee Daniels' "Precious: Based on the novel 'Push' by Sapphire" and Kathryn Bigelow's "The Hurt Locker" each took 7 nominations. "Up" and "Inglourious Basterds" joined the trio in the best film category, while "Nine" and "Invictus" were limited to 2 nominations each, the former for ensemble and art direction and the latter for director and actor.

The full list of nominations is below, and indieWIRE will report the WAFCA's winners tomorrow. Last year, "Slumdog Millionaire" swept the winners en route to its eventual Oscar win.
