Van Sant to Release Two Albums

Van Sant to Release Two Albums

by indieWIRE

Gus Van Sant ("My Own Private Idaho", "Drugstore Cowboy") will release two
full-length albums of material written, performed and recorded by Van Sant.
The albums, "18 Songs About Golf" and "Gus Van Sant" were originally produced
in 1983 and 1984. They were recorded in Van Sant's makeshift bedroom studio
with a four-track recording device he had bought to edit sound for his
first feature, "Mala Noche".

The albums will be released by Pop Secret Records in Portland, Oregon. Van
Sant is no newcomer to the music scene. He recorded two EPs for T/K
Records, "The Elvis Of Letters" and a collaboration with the late William
Burroughs. Van Sant has also directed videos for David Bowie, Tracy Chapman
and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

"Together they provide a candid, energetic look at the work, before
Hollywood, of a nomadic and extraordinarily talented artist," read a
statement from Pop Secret.
