The late Adrienne Shelly's Sundance '07 romantic comedy "Waitress" starring Keri Russell will open the 9th The Method Fest Independent Film Festival, taking place March 29 - April 5 in Calabasas, CA. Highlights of the festival include the world premieres of Patrick Donnelly's drama "Divergence," Ian Gurvitz's comedy "LA Blues," and Walt Becker's comedy, "Schooled." Slated U.S. debuts are "Bridge 13" (Iran), "El Carnaval de Sodoma" (Mexico) and "Trade Routes" (Bulgaria). In all, the festival, named after the famous school of acting, will screen 28 feaures and 45 shorts. The events styles itself as "the only major film festival in the U.S. focusing on acting, celebrating breakout acting performances in story driven independent films." As previously announced, Christopher Plummer will receive the fest's Lifetime Achievement Award (which actor Robert Wagner will receive on his behalf).
