Following its international premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival which just wrapped in September, Ben C. Lucas' feature film debut "Wasted on the Young," has been acquired by the relatively new Indomina Releasing, for North American distribution.
Starring Oliver Ackland ("The Proposition"), Adelaide Clements ("X-Men Origins: Wolverine") and Alex Russell, the Australian production tells the story of Zack, a swim captain and campus drug dealer, who rules his high school with his charming ways. When Xandrie, a confident sophomore, rejects his advances, and takes interest in his step brother, Zack exacts revenge.
"'Wasted on the Young' is a gripping film that pushes the genre of teen thrillers," said Jasbinder Singh Mann, CEO of Indomina Group in a statement. "The film introduces audiences to a whole new group of up and coming talent from Australia, certainly the ones to watch!"
Producer Janelle Landers added, "We’re proud to be part of this exciting new time for Indomina. Of all the North American distributors we met with, Indomina had the best connection with the film and its potential and some really exciting ideas for marketing to a young, connected audience."
The deal was negotiated by Indomina Releasing’s Vice President of Acquisitions, Rob Williams, and Head of Business and Legal Affairs, Toby Midgen, with Fortissimo Senior Vice President, Winnie Lau on behalf of the filmmakers.
