Hodgee Films has released a heartwarming trailer for its upcoming documentary "A Brony Tale," which will be playing at Tribeca this Saturday. Focused on a unique subsection of the fandom for the "My Little Pony" animated series, made up of mostly straight males, who refer to themselves as "bronies," the film follows voice actor Ashleigh Bell, who provides the voice for two of the ponies on the show, as she travels to BronyCon to meet with these fans for the first time. The film is directed by Brent Hodge and executive produced by Morgan Spurlock.
The trailer is quick to address the issue on everyone's mind -- that of the seemingly perverted origins of the "brony" fandom. In a clip at the beginning of the trailer Bell remarks, "The pervert alarm, for sure, went off in my head when I first heard about it." As the trailer proceeds, however, it becomes clear to Bell -- and by default us -- that the show gives these men strength when they feel unsure.
Save the judgement for later and just watch:
