BBC America's new original series "The Intruders" is as creepy as it sounds: The paranormal drama, starring Mira Sorvino and John Simm, centers on a secret society trying to achieve immortality by taking over other people's bodies.

A troubled ex-cop panics when his wife goes missing. A young girl runs away from home, guided by a mysterious book. An agent embarks on an unknown mission, carrying out a string of violent executions. And the people in their lives may or may not be possessed.

Headed by Glen Morgan ("The X Files," "Final Destination") and with "Blair Witch Project"‘s Eduardo Sanchez and "The Last Exorcism"‘s Daniel Stamm directing episodes, the show promises plenty of sinister, pitch-perfect scares.

"The Intruders" is set to premiere August 23rd. Check out the trailer below.
