As announced last night, the Toronto International Film Festival will be celebrating 25 years of Midnight Madness to sate an international roster of "bloodthirsty cinephiles." This year, Joe Begos' first feature film, "Almost Human," will be screening alongside the likes of Eli Roth and Hitoshi Matsumoto for its world premiere.
"Almost Human" takes place two years after a mysterious flash of blue light led to the disappearance of Mark Fisher. His friend Seth Hampton was the last to see him alive. Now a string of violent murders leads Seth to believe that Mark is back, and something evil is living inside of him. The gory trailer shows Mark on a murderous rampage, equipped with knives, guns, and chainsaws galore. Plenty of grizzly beards and flannel abound in Begos' blood-soaked thriller.
