Winner of best screenplay honors for an American drama at Sundance this year, "The Skeleton Twins" packs lots of star power into an uplifting if traditional family drama. Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig star as two twins who have coincidentally cheated death on the same day ten years apart. The Craig Johnson-directed feature is also an excellent vehicle for co-stars Luke Wilson and Ty Burrell.
Hader plays an actor named Milo who is struggling to make it in Los Angeles when he reunites with Wiig's Maggie. She and her husband (Wilson) invite Milo to stay with them for a while, during which time the whole family reconnects and the twins realize that fixing their own messed up lives directly relies on repairing their relationship.
The film was a hit at Sundance, receiving praise for the excellent dramatic turns from its otherwise-comedic stars, becoming one of the biggest buys at the festival this year. It has been picked up for U.S. distribution by Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions and it slated for a September 19 theatrical release. Check out the new trailer below:
