It's been quite some time since we've last heard anything about Sofia Coppola's upcoming LA-set teenage crime film "The Bling Ring," but distributor A24 has broken the silence today with the release of the film's first teaser.
Watson stars in the based on true events tale as the leader of a group of teenagers turned professional thieves who grabbed more than $3 million worth of valuables from celebrities' homes. Leslie Mann also co-stars as Watson's mother. It's hard not to see shades of Harmony Korine's upcoming "Spring Breakers," in the trailer's teens in over their heads plotting, but Coppola seems to be putting her own spin on the material.
The film is Coppola's first feature since 2010's "Somewhere" and seems to be a pretty extreme departure from that film's tone, instead giving us something more in line with the poppy extravagance of 2006's "Marie Antoinette."
"The Bling Ring," is currently slated to be put out in limited release June 14th. Watch the full trailer below.
