It's the final stretch until the June 14th release of Sofia Coppola's newest exploration of nihilism, material excess, and Los Angeles, the based-on-true-events "The Bling Ring," and the first clip from the film has just been released. Starring a host of young stars such as "Harry Potter's" Emma Watson and "American Horror Story's" Taissa Farmiga, alongside newcomers and a few celebrity cameos, the film follows a group of naive teens with a fixation on a life of glamor, who loot the houses of celebrities while they're away.
The brief new clip shows the gang of young hooligans sift through a closet of expensive clothes before exploring an in-house nightclub, where Watson shows off a few moves. The bad behavior and the naturalistic, totally obnoxious and vain way that the characters talk to each other call to mind distributor A24's other recent success, Harmony Korine's "Spring Breakers," which definitely seems to have a lot in common with this film.
