With director John Wells and writer Tracy Letts’ “August: Osage County” release on the horizon, a steady promotional flow has in recent weeks heightened the star-studded film’s fan hype.
To accompany tonight’s 10:00PM ET Q&A live stream with Wells and Letts flanked by cast members including Meryl Streep, The Weinstein Company has released four teaser clips, all of them featuring the black-clad sarcastically funny and filter-less matriarch, Violet Weston, played by Meryl Streep. Adapted from Letts’ pulitzer prize winning play of the same name, “August: Osage County” tells the story of a shattered Osage County, Oklahoma family reeling from the sudden suicide of poet and alcoholic Beverly Weston (Sam Shepard) who in passing leaves behind the unraveling emotional turmoils of a family that has refused to see eye to eye for far too long. “August: Osage County” stars Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Ewan McGregor, Chris Cooper, Abigail Breslin, Benedict Cumberbatch, Juliette Lewis, Margo Martindale, Dermot Mulroney, Julianne Nicholson, Sam Shepard and Misty Upham. It is also produced by George Clooney, Jean Doumanian, Grant Heslov, Steve Traxler, Bob Weinstein and Harvey Weinstein.
“August: Osage County” is set to be released theatrically December 25.
