Watch: Flying Eagle's Point of View Captured in Gorgeous Footage

Screen shot from YouTube

Don't try this at home...

Someone actually got the crazy brilliant idea of strapping a GoPro camera onto an eagle to capture the flying eagle's point of view. The results are magnificent. The video, which quickly rose to the top of Reddit's video page, is an example of true indie filmmaking (with a little help from the animal kingdom). It's already been viewed more than 1.6 million times on YouTube.

It's not just a gimmick. The footage of the Chamonix valley of France's Mer de Glace is spectacular. Of course, we're wondering how the filmmaker was able to retrieve the camera and the footage from the eagle.
