Described as a high concept thriller adapted by series authors Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, "The Strain" has received a trailer. The new FX series will follow a New York doctor who is tasked with examining victims of an unexplained epidemic that some recognize as similar to ancient vampirism. When the strain spreads, these doctors and ordinary New Yorkers wage war for the fate of humanity. The protagonist Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, or Eph, is played by Corey Stoll, who last graced the small screen in season one of "House of Cards." David Bradley and Kevin Durand also star.
Del Toro, who has already mastered cinema, co-wrote and directed this television pilot. He and fellow writer Hogan will remain on the team, but the show will be run by Carlton Cuse. Those three as well as Gary Ungar will serve as executive producers. FX will premiere the first of a 13-episode season on Sunday, July 13th at 10pm.
