Ever travel all the way to Chile to score some psychotropic cactus and some hippie girl with a crazy name just gets in the way? That's what happens to Michael Cera in "Crystal Fairy," the latest from Sebastian Silva ("The Maid").

Cera plays Jamie, a typical "Ugly American Tourist" visiting Chile with one thing on his mind: tripping on the local San Pedro cactus. Before setting out on his quest with local friend Champa (Juan Andres Silva), they are joined by the free spirited (and apparently quite hairy) Crystal Fairy, played by Gaby Hoffmann in a performance that looks both hilarious and yet poignant.

The Atacama Desert and rugged seaside of Chile give the trailer a very surreal look reminiscent of a Salvador Dali painting and the comedic timing between Cera and Hoffmann's kooky characters have the potential for some really funny moments.

A special preview screening is being thrown by Rooftop Films as a toast to Indiewire's 17th birthday. Sundance Selects opens the film July 12th.
