Last week, a short teaser premiered offering a tiny peak at "Mandela: The Long Walk to Freedom," the biopic of the South African freedom fighter turned first democratically elect president. Little was shown, but we got to hear Idris Elba's spot on accent in a voiceover.
Now in the first full trailer released we finally get to see Elba fully embody the inspirational president, who just celebrated his 95th birthday in the hospital.
The film examines Mandela's early life, from his childhood up through his apartheid activism, imprisonment, and election as the first black South African to office. Elba and co-star Naomie Harris, who plays Winnie, Mandela's wife during the tumultuous period, each look like they've put out powerhouse performances.
The film hits theaters Nov. 29 just in time for Oscar season, and from the look of the trailer, Elba has a shot at a Best Actor nomination.
