An international trailer has given us our first glimpse at Stephen Frears' "Philomena," which is world premiering in Venice in a few weeks. Judi Dench stars in the film as a woman searching for the son she was forced to give up as a teenager. It's clearly the kind of role Oscar nominations are made of, and Dench -- who received six noms and one win between 1997 and 2007 -- is no stranger to making that happen.

Check out the trailer below, which makes clear the film is a bit more comic than its material might suggest (wait for the joke in its final seconds). Which makes sense, given it's written by Steve Coogan, who also has a primary role in the film alongside Dench. But it still seems like a great fit for awards season, particularly with The Weinstein Company behind it.
