The latest trailer for David O. Russell's "American Hustle" takes the New Jersey con artist tale through the flashy depths of the criminal underworld in seventies-era New Jersey.
"American Hustle" follows talented con man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale) alongside his partner Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) as shifty FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper) sends them spiraling through a high stakes Mafia ambush. Jeremy Renner plays charismatic New Jersey politician Carmine Polito, who navigates a legal grey area while Jennifer Lawrence plays Irving's troubled wife Rosalyn Rosenfeld. The trailer uncloaks the movie's apparent mixture of suspense and snazzy aesthetics, providing one more peek at what looks to be a gripping rise-and-fall tale. Whether or not those qualities will translate into Oscar bait remains to be seen.
"American Hustle" is set for a December 13 limited release, followed by a wide release on December 25th.
