A stranded FBI agent whose memories are possibly altered finds himself in a sleepy, creepy, tree-filled town, investigating a murder.
This hardly sounds like the comeback M. Night Shyamalan needs, but there it is. He's the executive producer for new Fox show "Wayward Pines," adapted from the novel "Pines" by Blake Crouch. While not directly aiming to parody "Twin Peaks," (we know - it sure looks like it), Shyamalan said "It struck me as having a Twin Peaks-y vibe... It's the kind of thing where you have these quirky over-the-top performances that are still resonant." And as far as performances go, it looks like "Wayward Pines" is really bringing it, boasting a cast including Terrence Howard, Melissa Leo, Matt Dillon, Carla Gugino, and Juliette Lewis.
Shyamalan has other indies in the works, but will the arrival of "Pines" this month help us forget "After Earth"? Check out the trailer and judge for yourself.
