From the producers of "Billy Elliot" comes "Hunky Dory," a crowd-pleasing, South of Wales-set, coming-of-age musical starring Minnie Driver.
Viv (Driver) is a high school drama teacher in 1976, who wants to put on an end of the year show unlike any other they've ever seen. She wants to shake the schools traditional Shakespeare format by infusing "The Tempest" with glam rock music. Challenged with a room full of students desperate for the freedoms of summer vacation, she has to overcome normal teenage disinterest and distractions. By allowing the students to incorporate some of their favorite musicians like David Bowie and the Beach Boys into the play, Viv believes she will gather the student support she needs to put on the best show possible.
The film features songs that were performed and recorded live on set. It is available now on iTunes and will hit theatres next month. Here's the trailer:
