Patricia Clarkson and Canadian filmmaker Ruba Nadda have paired up once again (after the 2009 romantic drama "Cairo Time") for the man vs. man and man vs. nature thriller, "October Gale." A violent spring storm brings a mysterious, injured man (Scott Speedman) to the doorstep of recently widowed doctor Helen Matthews (Clarkson) who lives isolated from the mainland. But with him he brings trouble the pair needs to weather through in order to ensure their survival.
The film's full synopsis reads: "During a violent April storm, a young man, unconscious and bleeding from a gunshot wound, washes up on the rocky shore of Helen Matthews's remote island cottage. Helen, a recently widowed doctor, takes him in and saves his life. But the storm, which has cut her off from the mainland, doesn’t stop the people who shot him from finishing the job."
The film is screening next month at the Toronto International Film Festival. Check out the clip below:
