One week following the film's U.S. release, people are still talking "Under the Skin," Jonathan Glazer's stunning sci-fi/horror/drama/unclassifiable film starring Scarlett Johansson as an alien luring men to a terrible fate in Scotland. As debates hotly rage about the strengths and weaknesses of the film, not to mention what the hell the thing is getting on about in the first place, A24 Films has released a featurette in which Glazer and Johansson expound upon their process.
The video is just shy of two minutes, but it still features some noteworthy insight into creating and playing an alien character without playing an "alien," and what the emotional journey of the film is. Johansson's comment that Glazer sees the story of a transformation "from an it to a she" is particularly notable, a possible "in" for those who find the film alienating. Watch below.
