Of all the films screening here at SXSW, none had Austin more riled up than the U.S. premiere of Harmony Korine's subversive and scandalous candy colored blast "Spring Breakers." The morning following its raucous screening at the Paramount, Indiewire's Eric Kohn hosted a packed "Spring Breakers" panel at the Vimeo Theater, with Korine and the three of the film's stars (Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine) in attendance.
At the outset of the event Kohn promised a big surprise and he delivered, asking Gomez and crew to sing Britney Spears breakout hit "Baby One More Time," a song the girls (and Vanessa Hudgens, who missed out on the panel due to catching the flu) sing early in the film. After a hesitant start, Gomez (the only popstar/actress of the three) eclipsed Benson and Korine by giving the pop anthem her all to a visibly impressed Kohn. Girl's got pipes.
