Watch: This is How People Fall in the Movies

We all know the scene well.  A character is going through great mental anguish, or needs to prove to themselves their new superpower, or are being cornered by an evildoer...and all of a sudden, they fall off a ledge.

Sometimes it's shot in slow motion.  Sometimes we see the fallers face.  Sometimes we see them from behind.

But seeing all of these falling shots back-to-back, in this video cobbled together by film supercut specialists Pilot Point Productions, we're reminded how much shots of falling bring intense drama and suspense and also provide an opportunity to show off VFX artists' expertise.

Take a look at the video, "Gravity: A Falling Montage," below:

No Dredd? That movie had great slow motion falling sequences! Also, cloud atlas, the departed, superman (Margot kidder is one unbalanced lady) and spider-man.
