Is there anything better than watching Tilda Swinton lose control on the big screen? We've been delighted by her cool vampire and power-hungry witch, strung out by her Oscar-winning lawyer and completely terrified by her guilt-stricken mother, but this May we'll see a whole new side of Swinton as an glamorous rock star.
Directed by Luca Guadagnino, who last worked with Swinton on "I Am Love," the new drama "A Bigger Splash" stars the dreamy quartet of Swinton, Ralph Fiennes, Dakota Johnson and Matthias Schoenaerts. The movie received much acclaim and a Golden Lion nomination when it premiered at the Venice Film Festival earlier this year.
The official synopsis reads: "In 'A Bigger Splash,' rock legend Marianne Lane (Swinton) is recuperating on the volcanic island of Pantelleria with her partner Paul (Schoenaerts) when iconoclast record producer and old flame Harry (Fiennes) unexpectedly arrives with his daughter Penelope (Johnson) and interrupts their holiday, bringing with him an A-bomb blast of nostalgia from which there can be no rescue."
Fox Searchlight has just released the official U.S. trailer for the film, and while it doesn't differ much from the UK trailer, it's still a rush of rock n' roll drama that we can't wait to see on the big screen. "A Bigger Splash" hits select theaters May 4 and opens nationwide May 13.
